|
Fish are a beautiful necessity to having a complete biologically balanced
pond. One you adopt some fish weather koi or other types they will soon
become your babies. You will love feeding them and watching them grow.
There are some important thing to keep in mind when you have fish in
your pond.
Feeding
We have a whole catagory dedicated to fish food!
You do not want to over feed your fish it will cause the water to
become polluted faster and algae will become harder to control. Your
fish will eat your plants and algae in the pond if you keep them
overloaded with food they will eat less of the algae. If you have a
skimmer you might want to turn it off during feeding. You could also
use a feeding ring or a hula hoop to keep the food from being sucked

Protecting your fish
We recommend that you create steep walls and have at least 3 feet
depth in your pond to protect your fish from the wild life and the sun.
If you have steep walls with deep drop offs the harrows will not be able
to wade in and eat your fish. It also makes it harder for raccoons and
other wild life to reach in. Fish can also get sun burned so depth will
also protect them from the sun. If you have a pond that is not built
this way your fish will be less comfortable and as a result are less
friendly and more timid. We recommend using a koi kaslte to shade them
from the sun and to give them a place to hide and feel safe. Koi
kastles also help with spawning giving the fish a place to lay there
eggs against.

die.
